Audience: All leaders at Ophelia Energy Corporation. They range in age and gender with various backgrounds in education and have been working at the company in a leadership role for at least 6 months.
Problem: Ophelia Energy Corporation has seen an increasingly high number of employee complaints and a higher than usual turnover rate due to the lack of adequate leadership and reached out to On Target, a corporate leadership training company.
Solution: To enhance leader performance and increase employee retention by 25%, this impactful VILT course provides leaders at Ophelia's with engaging scenario-based learning and evaulation on leadership qualities, the impact they have on team members, and strategies to address workplace challenges.
Process: In developing the VILT course, a thorough approach was employed, starting with a needs analysis, research, and action mapping to identify learner gaps and establish learning goals. A high-level design document was created to serve as the blueprint of the course to outline the synchronous training, its structure, and engagement elements, strategically chunking to reduce cognitive load. During the development stage, the training was crafted with these elements as relatable narratives and collaborative interactions to enhance the practical knowledge transfer. After iterating based on multiple rounds of feedback, a comprehensive learning experience was delivered and would be published and implemented via a video conferencing tool (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, et al.).
Highlights: The VILT course incorporates compelling storylines, guidance, and feedback to apply leadership skills. Learners are guided through the training accompanied by a participation guide workbook along with a supplemental video.
Real-life scenarios, discussions with familiar narratives, thought-provoking workbook sessions, and relevant visuals and videos bring the VILT course to life.
Engagement is implemented using Scenarios, Polls, Chats, Breakout Rooms, and Whiteboards to enhance the impact and immersion of the VILT course.
Evaluation: Kirkpatrick Model Levels 1, 2, and 3 were used to measure engagement, satisfaction, comprehension, and behavioral changes during and after completion of the VILT training. This meticulous process ensures training that is cohesive, effective, and aligned with Ophelia Energy Corporation's goals.
